Former West Indies Captain, Guyanese, Ramnaresh Sarwan, will lead a powerful Georgetown Pitbulls team in the Jam Zone Masters’ Cup t20 cricket competition at the Guyana National Stadium on Friday August 12 and Sunday August 14.
The Georgetown line-up includes overseas Internationals Keiron Pollard, Suleiman Benn and Krishmar Santokie.
Apart from Sarwan, who arrived home on Thursday and has joined the locally based players in practice sessions, Guyana’s newest West Indies player Chris Barnwell, former West Indies under-19 players Trevon Griffith and Steven Jacobs along with National players Shemroy Barrington, Derwin Christian and Guyana t20 left-arm pacer Andre Stoll are all in the City side.
Each team has been allowed up to four overseas players for the competition which is being run by the Hits and Jams Entertainment in collaboration with the Guyana Cricket Board. The overseas players are expected to start arriving in Guyana from August 10.
The Georgetown side will face-off with New Line Cavaliers in the first semifinal on Friday from 17:00hrs before Universal DVD Berbice Titians come up against Hits and Jams Super Stars in the second semifinal from 21:00hrs.
The New Line Cavaliers unit should include Lendl Simmons, Dwayne Smith, Fidel Edwards and Mahendra Nagamootoo and admission for the semi-finals on Friday is $1,000.
Tickets for the third place play-off on Sunday from 16:00hrs and the final at 20:00hrs cost $1,500. On the day of the matches tickets will cost double the price and fans are being encouraged to purchase tickets early.
Tickets are being sold at Ashmins and the Guyana Cricket Board office in Georgetown and in Berbice at Caribbean Cuisine on Number 2 Public Road and Malanie’s Fast Food outlet in Pit Street New Amsterdam.
