Under Tribute to coaches Programme
Seven cricket Coaches, who have all been committed to working beyond the call of duty along with the Berbice Cricket Board (BCB) to lift the standard of the game in Berbice, were recognised by the Special Events Committee of the Board on Wednesday last at the Annex Restaurant in Rose Hall Town.
Honoured were Adrian Amsterdam, Julian Moore, Hubern Evans, Tremayne Smartt, Winston Smith, Delbert Hicks and Renwick Batson.
Chairman of the Special Events Committee, Hilbert Foster said that the first ever Tribute to Coaches Programme was sponsored by the Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports Club and Food For The Poor Inc. Foster said that the Board decided to honour the coaches because of the hard work and dedication they have displayed over the years.
He noted that Berbice has dominated most of the Inter County tournaments and showered praises on the coaches for their work among the County’s junior players. The BCB since 2008 has been placing special emphasis on coaching and has organised numerous clinics along with the junior and senior Elite Programmes and the Annual Cricket Academy.
The Berbice Cricket Board for the latter part of 2011 would be expanding its coaching programme to unearth new talented players in the Central and Upper Corentyne areas and Foster expressed confidence that the Coaching Department of the Board would continue its outstanding work.

Beharry urged the coaches to strive for more success, while President Foster challenged them to continue upgrading their qualifications and to never drop their personal standard.
Head of the Berbice Cricket Board Coaching Department, Julian Moore, expressed gratitude to the Board for honouring the coaches and noted that it was a pleasure to work along with the Executives of the Board who are fully committed and passionate for the development of the game. Each of the Awardees received a Certificate of Excellence and a collection of gifts.
The Board is expressing gratitude to the Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports Club and Food for the Poor Inc. for their sponsorship of the programme.
