Khan (91), Premnauth (88, 6-15) Rabindra (6-10), star as West End, Blenheim reach final
West End and Blenheim United recorded comfortable semifinal victories last Sunday in the Arthur Joseph Memorial U-19 40 over cricket competition in Leguan.
At Whyte’s Park in Canefield, West End defeated Satro by 167 runs. Aseeb Khan hit four sixes and seven fours in a top score of 91 while Raydon Austin made 53 (4×6,3×4) as team West End scored 198-8 off their 40 overs after taking first strike. Imran Khan grabbed 4-44 off 6 overs. Satro in response folded for a megre 31 in 10 overs. Wazir Ali was the only batsman to reach double figures with 15 as Devon Rabindra bagged 6-10 off 5 overs and Equeaz Ayube 4-15 off 5.
At Enterprise ground, Blenheim United overcame Satro by 76 runs. Blenheim United, batted first and posted 216-6 in 40 overs with Essequibo U-19 player Tulsieram Premnauth leading the way with 88 which contained five sixes and seven fours. Opener Shivindra Hemraj slammed 63 (2×6, 4×4) as Amit Jagroo had 2-32 off 4 overs.
Satro in their turn at the crease threatened briefly before they were bowled out for 140 in 22 overs. Sultan Ali led the way with an attacking 76 (8×6, 6×4) while Premnauth crowned a fine allround game with 6-15 from 5 overs.
West End and Blenheim United will now clash in the final which is billed for Sunday at Enterprise. The competition is being played in Memory of the late Arthur Joseph who was a former cricketer on the island. (Zaheer Mohamed)
