Thirty-three years old motor racer Shiraz Roshandin driving a 1600cc Toyota Levin sponsored by TOTAL Lubricants
and Fullworks produced an inspiring performance to be among the most outstanding competitors at last Sunday’s Guyana Motor Racing & Sports Club Meet which was held, at the South Dakota Circuit.
Roshandin, who is a multiple times Endurance Race champion was in impeccable form, registering three first places, a second and a third to enjoy a good day at the track.
The local speedster captured races in the Group 2A, B and 3 categories, while his runner-up spot and the third place came in Group 2A.
Such was his confidence on the day that Roshandin, perhaps, satisfied with the reliability of the car decided to step up with the cars with more horse power and what fans saw was pure driving skills, experience and a machine that handled the wet conditions better than most.
Speaking with Kaieteur Sport yesterday from his business location at 51 Public Road, Eccles, Roshandin praised the team for producing a reliable car, while also crediting the TOTAL lubricants and (TOYO) tyres for its performance under conditions that were extremely testing due to heavy rainfall.
The current 3-hour Endurance race champion has already set his sights on doing well at the upcoming November International race Meet and has even signalled intentions to make the necessary modifications to produce an even more competitive car.
“We are hoping to do even more work on making the car more competitive in time for the November Meet,” he told this newspaper.
He credited his experience and skills driving in the wet as two primary factors for his success, while another significant edge according to him was the choice of lubricant.
Roshandin said that his success in the Group 2B and 3 categories, though, it took some amount of skill to upstage the ‘bigger’ boys has given him enough confidence to contemplate moving up to the next level.
