Tickets on sale at Ashmins and GCB ticket office
The Caribbean’s top t20 cricket stars are expected to shine at the Guyana National Stadium on Friday August 12 and 14 in the inaugural Jam Zone Masters Cup t20 cricket competition. Jamaican Chris Gayle, the World’s most devastating t20 batsman, will headline a galaxy of stars in the tournament which involves Universal DVD Berbice Titans, Gizmos & Gadgets Georgetown Pit bulls, New Line Cavaliers and Hits and Jams Super Stars.
Apart from the pugnacious Gayle, Dwayne Bravo, Kieron Pollard, Ramnaresh Sarwan, Andre Russell, Dwayne Smith, Fidel Edwards, Jerome Taylor, Denesh Ramdin, Lendl Simmons, Mahendra Nagamootoo, Chris Barnwell, Davendra Bishoo, Narsingh Deonarine, Veerasammy Permaul, Jonathon Foo, Brandon Bess, Royston Crandon, Danza Hyatt, Krishmar Santokie and Leon Johnson are among the players with West Indies experience who will be on show during the two nights of action.
Matches start at 17:00hrs and 21:00hrs respectively each day and tickets are $1,000 for the first night and $1,500 for the final night and are on sale at the Ashmins Store on Lombard Street, Georgetown and at the Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) ticketing centre at Bourda. As with all of the events for Jam Zone Summer Break 2011, the cricket tickets will cost ‘double the price’ at the gate and fans are encouraged to buy tickets early since only 15,000 tickets for each day has been printed to accommodate the Stadium’s capacity.
Surprise prizes could be available for customers who buy Jam Zone tickets at Ashmins, while cricket tickets could be purchased at the Cricket Board office between 09:00hrs to 16:00hrs every weekday.
New Line Cavaliers, with Dwayne Smith, Fidel Edwards, Ramdin, Simmons, Nagamootoo and Gajanand Singh in their side, oppose the Ramnaresh Sarwan led Georgetown Pit Bulls in the first semi-final. The Georgetown team also includes Keiron Pollard, Jerome Taylor, Navin Stuart, Santokie and Barnwell.
The second semi-final pits Berbice, which includes Bishoo, Foo, Deonarine, Permaul and Bess against the Hits and Jams Super Stars which will be spearheaded by Gaye, Hyatt, Russell, Bravo and Johnson.
The playing conditions for the competition will be discussed by WICB Match Referee and former Test pacer Reon King at a special meeting for the Captains and Managers of the four teams this week. Berbicians are showing a huge interest in the competition and tonight at 20:00hrs a special Masters’ Cup t20 update, hosted by cricket broadcaster and former Guyana cricketer Sean Devers will be aired on Berbice TV Station LRTV Channel 10.
