The President and Executive Members of the Berbice Cricket Board (BCB) has expressed profound shock and sadness at the passing of long standing First Class Umpire, Mr. Clyde Duncan.
A release from the Board said that Mr. Duncan dedicated himself to the development of cricket in his homeland and as a result had reached the highest level – Test cricket. He was a disciplined and honest Umpire who earned the respect of his fellow officials, players and the media, the release went on to say.
His death is a huge blow to Guyana’s cricket which is in deep crisis and needs every dedicated official to turn the tide around. The BCB would like to express heartfelt sympathy to the family of Mr. Duncan and pray that the Heavenly Father would comfort and guide them along during this sad chapter of their lives.
May God grant his soul eternal rest and it is the Board’s hope that the cricketing authorities in Guyana would honour and keep his memory alive.
Meanwhile, the President and Members of the Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports Club has also extended sympathy to the family of the late Clyde Duncan. He umpired in several matches involving the club’s First Division team and the players always respected him for his honesty and wide knowledge of the game.
The Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports Club would like to urge all cricketing officials in Guyana to take a leaf out of Mr. Duncan’s book and strive to be hard working, committed and work for the love of the game.
Rest in Peace, Mr. Duncan, your life was well spent and you would remain a role model to each one of us in the Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports Club.
