Two basketball summer clinics will be held in Linden this month with an anticipated playoff between the two factions at the end of the clinics.
Kaieteur Sport understands that former national point guard, Kevin ‘Two Feet’ Joseph will be hosting a basketball clinic in Amelia’s Ward beginning next week.
Guyana Amateur Basketball Federation (GABF) Technical Director, Abdulla ‘Zico’ Hamid will host another clinic at a venue in Central McKenzie.
At the conclusion of both clinics, the Kevin Joseph participants will challenge Hamid’s group in an exhibition game where they will demonstrate their skills.
Both clinics are still being formalised and more details will follow. The initiatives are part of the resuscitation process in a sport that has been waning in Linden.
The absence of the Mackenzie Sport Club court has seriously affected the sport’s proliferation in Linden, but Hamid and Joseph have decided to take a proactive approach.
Hamid was a former President of the Linden Amateur Basketball Association (LABA). Joseph is a senior member of Jets’ basketball team in Linden.
