-Stephen Vieira destroys strong field
The highly anticipated showdown amongst the ‘big’ guns in local motor racing came down to tire strategy and because all the teams failed to read the conditions perfectly, the three races in the marquee Group 4 category were shared among three winners.
When the Guyana Motor Racing & Sports Club held its second Race Meet of the year, the eagerly anticipated Group 4 division where the fastest cars lined up, produced no clear cut winner as all three races had different winners with Paul Vieira grabbing the first and then it was Andrew King and Mark Vieira to capture the top podium spots on a rain-affected day at the South Dakota Circuit yesterday.
Other outstanding performances came from reigning Super Bike champion Stephen Vieira, who won both of the races run off in the category after a wet track due to persistent rain forced the Organisers to cancel the final event.
Group 3 driver Danny Persaud was also in dominant form winning two races in the division, while Shiraz Roshandin secured a win in the Group 2B category.
The full details will be given in the next issue.
