Last weekend saw lots of close games in the communities as emotions varied as all across Guyana people get more and more involved in the Kares T10 countrywide Tape ball tournament. Some 204 were completed across the country.
In Georgetown most of the favoured teams made it through to the next round with the likes of Chris Barnwell, David Dick and other hardball players excelling. Teams like Pitbulls, Trojan Warriors, Franchise as well as Kingston Cricket Club have gone through to 5th Round.
On the East Bank Digital Technology, Team of Destruction, Patrewea Sawmills and Kris International have made it through to round three.
Twenty three year old off spinner Bisram Ramrattan of Team of Destruction captured six wickets for two runs in his spell of 1.4 overs. His first four wickets came in the first over and the other two in the other four balls of his second over. Meanwhile, on the West Coast of Demerara, Wolf Warriors picked up where they left off in the previous softball action and are on a roll, easily defeating West Side Warriors and Brutal Jammers to make it to the next round. In the match Wolf Warriors versus West Side Warriors, Skipper of Wolf Amrit Jairam bowling brisk medium captured 4 wkts in four balls to finish with 4-4 off his 2 overs. Other teams making it through are Guiding Light Stars, Naamryk Rangers and Street Bulls.
In the match between Naamryk Rangers and Steelers XI played at Cornelia Ida Ground, the latter were destroyed for a mere 16 runs in 3.1 overs with Sachin George (3-3) and Asif Hussain with (3-1) being unplayable in sunny conditions and bowling with lots of fire.
On the Essequibo Coast, North Cotton Field and Walton Hall Cricket Club will clash in the final of that zone to determine who takes on Pomeroon winner, who will also be determined this Sunday for a place in the super sixteen.
Leguan, who are part of the Essequibo Islands zone, have determined a winner in Young Warriors who defeated Rebels in the final match by 4 wkts after bowling the opposition out for 84 in 8 overs. Young Warriors will now await the winners of Bartica and Wakenaam to determine the winner of that zone.
In Berbice, Jonathan Foo clobbered another half century (75 not out) to ensure Albion Community centre stay on course in the Lower Corentyne zone. They Defeated Belvedere All Stars by a huge 121 runs margin after making a huge 185-4 and limiting them to 64 all out.
Meanwhile, the school teams and the female category will resume next weekend but West Coast have their final match in the female category with Uitvlugt Angels taking on Rising Stars to determine who makes it into the super sixteen,
