The Pan American Junior Badminton Individual Championships started on Wednesday July 27 in Kingston, Jamaica at the National Indoor Sports Centre where over 16 countries are participating in Under-11,13,15,17 & 19 events which include Boys & Girls Singles, Doubles and Mix Doubles.
The Countries participating are: Guyana, Jamaica, Canada, USA, Brazil, Colombia, Peru, Mexico, Costa Rica, Guatemala, El Salvador, Trinidad, Dominican Republic, Barbados, Puerto Rico, and Ecuador.
Guyana had a tough opening day with only Greer Jackson securing victory. She defeated Chantal McLaren (JAM) 21-15, 22-20.

Under-15 Girls Singles Round 1: Varsha Boodram (GUY) lost to Christina Hastings (JAM): 1-9,20-22,21-8
Under-17 Boys Singles Round 2: Kevin Quaicoe (GUY) lost to Jose Amaral (BRA): 21-5,21-10
Under-17 Girls Singles Round 1: Greer Jackson (GUY) defeated Chantal McLaren (JAM): 21-15, 22-20
Under-19 Boys Singles Round 1: Christopher Persaud (GUY) lost to Dennis Coke (JAM): 21-12, 21-10
Under-19 Boys Singles Round 2: Avinash Odit (GUY) lost to Jeffrey Kuo(USA): 21-3, 21-7, Nicholas Ali(GUY) lost to No.2 Seed A. Mcnee (JAM): 21-16, 21-11
Under-19 Girls Singles Round 2: Tricia Ramjit (GUY) lost No.2 Seed L. Zornoza (PER): 21-0, 21-1

Meanwhile, reports state that Guyana had better fortunes on the second day. Over 16 countries participated in the Under- 11,13,15,17 & 19 events, which include Boys & Girls Singles, Doubles and Mix Doubles.
