Bissoondyal Singh, President of East Coast Cricket Board and Chairman of the Cricket Development Committee of the Guyana Cricket Board has on his and the board sent condolences on the passing of Umpire Clyde Duncan.
In a release to the media, Singh stated, “I was shocked to get the message that International Umpire Mr. Clyde Duncan had passed away. He was a wonderful friend and mentor to so many young people especially cricketers. He was so well-respected and everyone always had such kind things to say about him.”
“There are always people you meet in your life that care deeply about many things – in particular their families, setting a good example, living a good life and making their country proud. That is how Mr. Clyde Duncan struck me, as someone who was happy, satisfied, compassionate and often swollen with pride, someone who always had a positive impact.
I had the pleasure of working with Brother Clyde on many occasions over the years, particularly when he served as the Secretary of Cricket World Cup Operations Committee T20, it was indeed a memorable experience for everyone. His contributions to the game of cricket and his Country, without a doubt was exemplary, he served with distinction. Sadly his great innings came to an abrupt end. Umpire Duncan will be greatly missed.
May I, on behalf of the Executives of the East Coast Cricket Board and the members of the Cricket Development Committee of the Guyana Cricket Board, extend our deepest sympathy to the bereaved, especially to his beloved wife and children. We pray the love of God enfolds you during your difficult moments and he helps you heal with the passage of time. May his soul rest in peace.”
