They were simply too good for rivals! Good planning, execution and pure athletic talent were some of the tenants of Defence Headquarters’ (DHQ) retention of the Guyana Defence Force (GDF) Inter-Unit Athletic Championships title yesterday.
At the end of the nine-unit championship, DHQ had amassed 288.5 points to win the title for a second straight year, leaving Base Camp Ayanganna (BCA) in second with 187.5 points. Base Camp Stephenson was third on 170.5 points after the final tally.
Respected and renowned club athletes, Coast Guard, Leslain Baird were adjudged the Champion Male Athlete while BCA, Tiffany Smith was Champion Female. The Defence Force will not turn its attention to the Inter-Services Championships later this year.
