Preparations for the first ever Jam Zone Master’s Cup t20 cricket competition is going full steam ahead and the Hits and Jams Super Stars have been the first team to be officially announced.
The four-match competition is scheduled for the Guyana National Stadium at Providence on Friday August 12 & Sunday August 14 and all of the leading West Indian t20 players are expected to participate.
The interest for the competition which has been sanctioned by the WICB and Guyana Cricket board is very high among Caribbean fans and yesterday Regional Radio cricket Broadcasters Line and Length signaled their interest to broadcast the matches live from Guyana to the rest of the region.
Organised by the Jam Zone Entertainment as a part of their 2011 Jam Zone Summer Break which includes concerts at Providence featuring Americans Trey Songz and top Dancehall performers Mavado and Vybz Kartel, the inaugural Master’s Cup is expected to attracted over 15, 000 for both nights. The first game is scheduled to be played for 17:00hrs and the second from 21:00hrs on each night.
The 24-year-old Keeper Tyrell Tull, who played in Guyana’s championship winning 2006 Stanford T20 Guyana team, will Captain the Hits and Jams squad which includes four West Indies ‘overseas’ players.
The Vice-Captain is Leon Johnson who played three ODIs in 2008, while Chris Gayle, Dwayne Bravo, Andre Russell, Danza Hyatt are the International stars to be on show for the Hits and Jams team.
Former Guyana players Orin Bailey and Gavin Nedd are the Coaches working with the Hits Jams side which. National t20 Champions Universal DVD Berbice Titians, New Line Cavaliers and Gizmos and Gadgets Georgetown are the other teams in the mega event.
