Horace Stevens was on Monday, last, jailed for five years after he pleaded guilty to possession of Narcotics, while his common law wife, Netta Rogers, who was charged with the same offence was remanded to prison until August 30 after she denied the allegation brought against her.
When the two made their appearance before Magistrate Sherdel Isaacs at the Vreed-en-Hoop Magistrate’s Court, they were told that the police are alleging that on July 23 they had in their possession 270 kilo grams of cannabis to which they sold to Mohamed Eddo, a police Corporal acting undercover, for the purpose of trafficking.
The court was told that on the day the incident occurred, about 01:30 hours, ranks from the police narcotics branch were carrying out an operation whereby a rank went to the home of the defendants and purchased the illicit substance. Upon the completion of the transaction the defendants were arrested and charged with the offence.
The Prosecution objected to bail citing the seriousness of the offence.
