The police are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of Mahaica, East Coast Demerara resident, Ramkissoon Persaud, whose decomposing body was fished out of a conservancy yesterday morning.
Kaieteur News was told that a resident saw the body floating in the conservancy and immediately raised an alarm. Residents then contacted the police.
The body was taken to the Lyken Funeral Home, where relatives made the identification.
Numerous attempts yesterday to contact relatives proved futile. Efforts also to contact police officials were unsuccessful.
The body is at the funeral home awaiting a post mortem report.
