The Guyana Police Sports Complex would come alive on July 31 when athletes from the Guyana Police Force (GPF) engage each other in the annual Police Athletic Championships.
Even as the various athletes get ready to turn in their best performance, furniture giants, Courts has ensured that they receive adequate compensation when Public Relations Officer (PRO) of that organization, Zeya Nasir-Ramnauth handed over a cheque valued some $75,000 to Assistant Commissioner and Chairman of the action committee George Vyphuis. Several beautiful trophies comprised the other part of the donation.
The simple ceremony took place at the Courts Main Street office and was witnessed by Assistant Superintendent and Games Officer, Colin Boyce, other Courts employees and members of the media.
“This is how we bring value home,” proclaimed Ms Nasir-Ramnauth as she handed over the gift to Mr. Vyphuis. She further complimented the two officers for the efforts of the members of their organization to participate diligently in sports even as they address the onerous task of maintaining peace and stability in the country.
Mr. Vyphuis expressed heartfelt gratitude to his benefactor while assuring the PRO that the gift would go a long way in alleviating the heavy expenses associated with organizing the activity. He further endorsed Ms Nasir-Ramnauth views of the hard all round efforts of his officers to keep the peace even as they find time for recreational and sports activities. “Courts, you did it again,” he proclaimed.
Activities get underway on Saturday with a road race and continue with several blistering races up to the 4th. In total there will be 69 events.
