The Guyana Oil Company through its Castrol Brand became the latest entity to offer support for the Guyana Motor Racing & Sports Club (GMR&SC) Race Meet which will be staged on Sunday, at the South Dakota Circuit.
Brand Manager Leonard Khan recently handed over a cheque worth $120,000 to Club Manager Rayon Samaroo during a simple ceremony held at the Company’s Head Office.
Samaroo in brief remarks expressed thanks on behalf of the club, adding that GuyOil has been a consistent supporter of motor racing and the latest gesture in ample endorsement of this fact.
Sunday’s Meet has 23 races listed including the rookie, 125cc, superbike, group 2A, B, 3 and 4 categories, but as usual fans will be eager to catch a glimpse of the return of former champion Mark Vieira, who is anticipated to take to the track in his recently acquired Mazda RX 8 along with new entry Terry Singh’s Mitsubishi Evolution 9.
Group 4 according to a report is loaded with top quality competitors including reigning champion Kevin Jeffrey and former champion Andrew King and together with the likes of Andrew Morgan, Vishok Persaud, Keith Evelyn, Paul Vieira; the Gayadin brothers Ryan and Gavin, Raj Boodhoo and Rupie Shewjattan, the rivalry in this category should be extremely intense and frenetic.
