In Regional female tourney in Barbados

Talented 18-year-old West Indies female all-rounder Shamaine Campbell will lead a strong Guyana 14-member squad in this month’s Senior Regional female cricket competition in Barbados.
The Guyana side was selected after the recently concluded female Inter-County competition which was won by defending champions Demerara and the national side will begin encampment tomorrow.
The national side include five players who have represented the West Indies, while 13 year-old Berbice off-spinner Phaffiana Millington is the baby of the team and with her ability to extract turn and clever use of flight could emerge as one of the leading bowlers in Barbados.
Energetic all-rounder Akaze Thompson was also rewarded for her recent outstanding work with a debut call up to the senior female team.
Campbell, Demerara Skipper and opening batter June Ogle-Thomas along with fast bowlers Sabrina Munroe, Tremaine Smartt and left-arm quickie Erva Giddings are the other West Indian players in the side.
Wicketkeeper/Batter Victoria Bacchus gets her chance after consistent hard work, while powerfully built Nationals Abina Parker and Prudence Willaims will provide experience for the team which also include national female left-arm spinner Joann Vansertima.
The full squad read:-Tremaine Campbell (Captain), Onicka Wallerson, June Ogle-Thomas, Akaze Thompson, Trishanie Cort, Abina Parker, Prudence Lewis, Victoria Bacchus, Joann Vansertima, Tremaine Smartt, Sabrina Munroe, Erva Giddings, Nikita Tony, Phaffiana Millington.
