When play in the 2011 Mackeson / East Demerara Football Association (EDFA) senior league continued on Saturday last at the BV Community Ground, Victoria Kings blanked home team BV Triumph United (BVTU) 2-0, while Plaisance and Ann’s Grove battled an exciting 3-3 draw.
Victoria Kings, like BVTU are both former division one champs on the East Coast and have been the EDFA’s representative teams to many of the GFF’s Inter Association tournaments over the years, but both teams are in the rebuilding process and are aiming to win this year’s Mackeson League.
The Kings, showed more class and hunger than the home team in recording their 2-0 win compliments of goals off the boots of National player Pierre Joseph in the 9th and 70th minute.
Ann’s Grove came from behind to draw with Plaisance which it is alleged played with a number of unregistered players; the EDFA will investigate the matter and make a ruling accordingly.
John Heliger (10, 70) netted a brace for Plaisance while the players on target for Ann’s Grove were Dwayne Rogers (50), Kevon Barry (64) and Glenroy Semple 5 minutes to full time.
Matches on Sunday were affected due to the no show of referees. League action is expected to continue this weekend.
