Not much is known about the football ability (s) of Port Kaituma, while it is accepted that players from this area – a small town within the Barima-Waini administrative region of Guyana – are generally skillful, the GT&T FastBall nationwide tournament will afford football fans and enthusiasts the opportunity to judge for themselves.
Co-Director of the Kashif & Shanghai Organisation, Kashif Muhammad whose Organisation is responsible for running this inaugural knock-out tournament was recently in Port Kaituma to ensure their one of the tournament was efficiently manned.
The victorious Port Kaituma team pose for a group shot after winning their Zone. They will be seeking to transfer that success to the round-of-32.
Muhammad said he was more than impressed with the level of play exhibited by the young, energetic and skillful players in this area; they emerged as Zone champions having beaten Mabaruma in the final of the 4-team playoff.
The lads from Port Kaituma have now made it into the round-of-32 and are eager to showcase their talent when they come up against East Demerara’s Golden Stars on Wednesday July 27 at the BV Community Ground.
Some of the players who will be integral to Port Kaituma’s quest of going all the way to claim the top prize of One Million Dollars are Orin Benjamin, Terrence Ash, Leroy Domingo, Glenroy Bailey, Orlando Cupidore, Marcel Santiago and Kwame Gordon. (F. Wilson)
