Top softball team Memorex playing out of the Amerally Sawmills Limited of New Amsterdam on Saturday won the second edition of the Berbice Chambers of Commerce and Industry Inter- Agency 10/ 10 Softball tournament which concluded at the Rose Hall Community Centre ground.
Memorex, one of the top softball teams in the country, made full use of their experience to get past its opponents in the semifinal and final. In the finals they came up against surprise package New Building Society and won by seven wickets. Although the margin of victory seemed large, the match was closely contested with just three deliveries remaining in the end.
Memorex led by former Berbice Inter county player Anthony ‘Gavaskar’ Amerally won the toss and asked NBS to take first strike. The bank boys led by manager and former inter county player Anil Beharry rattled up a formidable 94 for 6 in the allotted ten overs with Brian Baker top scoring with 23. Memorex in reply were in some early trouble after losing three quick wickets, but a fighting unbeaten 26 from Berbice player Anthony Bharatram guided them to 96-3 in 9.3 overs.
Earlier in semifinal matches, New Building Society took care of Metro Office & Computer Supplies whipping them by 38 runs. Scores in the game were: NBS – 81-7 in 10 overs with Anil Beharry blasting 28 which include 2×6 and 2×4. In their turn at the crease Metro Office and Computer Supplies folded for 43 in 6.3 overs. Karibee Rice took first strike and reached 76 – 3 in their allotment of overs, Imran Khan leading a one man fight with a well compiled undefeated 43, which included 4×6 and 1×4.

With the game heading down to the wire, 6 were needed off 2 deliveries. It was then that J. De Silva Lofted D. Millington out the park for a big 6 to bring victory as Memorex ended on 77- 8 in 9.5 overs.
In the exhibition game Universal DVD/ Berbice Titans defeated arch rivals Celebrity Times by two wickets. Scores: Celebrity Times 73- 6, Universal DVD/ Berbice Titans 74- 8, with Totaram Seenanand top scoring with 20 which included (2×6).
