– lauds FIVB, CSV, MCYS for support given
President of the Guyana Volleyball Federation (GVF), Lennie Shuffler is scheduled to attend the South American Volleyball Federation (CSV) Elective Assembly from August 8-10 in RI0, Brazil.
During the Assembly, elections will be held, while discussions on CSV’s plans will be addressed.
Shuffler indicated that he will again be inquiring of CSV ways and means for them to assist Guyana in participating in activities organised by the Body at lower cost since participation in CSV activities will pave the way for Guyana to play in some of the Caribbean Zonal Association (CAZOVA) tournaments.
He expressed his gratitude to the FIVB, CSV and the Ministry of Culture Youth and Sport (MCYS) for the collective support that is being given in several key projects being undertaken by GVF.
A four year Nationwide Schools Volleyball programme has been signed between FIVB and GVF and is fully supported by the MCYS and the Ministry of Education.
Meanwhile, Shuffler revealed that a FIVB Teachers Volleyball Coaching course is set for the September 5-9 2011.
He also disclosed that a Taraflex Sports floor donated by FIVB to GVF is to be installed at the National Gymnasium.
FIVB’s new direction in giving support to countries in categories one (1) and two (2) is certainly helping Guyana.
