Fruta Conquerors FC, led by a double in the 3rd and 29th minutes, off the boot of Gerald Gritten defeated the Guyana Police Force 4-2 when the curtains came down on the Georgetown Football Association/National Sports Commission (NSC) Futsal football tournament at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall (CASH) Saturday evening last.
Rawl Haynes netted twice for the lawmen, in the 14th and 17th minutes but his efforts eventually boiled down to naught.
Beacons FC claimed the third place 6-2 after Leon Yaw contributed three of their successes in the 7th, 9th and 25th minutes. Dwayne Dickson (11th), Phillip Rowley (19th) and Chris Gallaham (20th) were the other scorers. Okesht Cerker (2nd) and Terrence Lewis (28th) did a mini-repair, albeit inconsequential job for the GFC.
The winning team carted off $500,000 and a beautiful trophy, while the second place finishers won half that amount. The third and fourth place finishers collected $100,000 and $50,000 respectively. The presentation ceremony is scheduled for tomorrow at a venue to be announced.
