Dear Editor,
The government of Guyana, in its thrust to attract reputable and reliable air carriers, should commence discussion with one of Latin America’s best airlines, COPA of Panama.
COPA started with one aircraft in the 1950s and served about five destinations. Today, it has a fleet of 67 aircraft and flies to 55 destinations in the Americas. Its network is extensive, and that includes Trinidad and Tobago, St. Maarten, Jamaica, Cuba, Curacao, Aruba, the Dominican Republic and Venezuela.
The airline is financially healthy and it continues to develop. Currently, it has an order for 62 Boeing 737-800 aircraft. This large order is geared to expand its Colombia hub after COPA acquired a local carrier in that country, Aero Republica. Also, COPA is looking to replace its old fleet.
The Panama City hub continues to grow.
With such an extensive network and a strong financial standing, it would be great to have such a reputable carrier service Guyana.
Especially from its hub in Panama City and Bogota, Colombia, Guyanese can fly to Toronto, Miami, Los Angeles, Chicago, New York, South and Central America. They fly to every major city in the Americas.
