… Fracas in Mocha
The victim of Sunday’s brutal chopping that left the victim, Roy Sanders, badly wounded and hospitalized. The man is suffering from severe pain about the body, particularly, the right eye and hands where he was wounded.
A chop on the left wrist resulted in the fingers on that hand being paralyzed until a surgery was carried out to make them movable again. The chops to the right eye– one over the brow and one under the eye– has left the victim with blurred vision and a threatening possibility of blindness.
Roy Sanders’s mother, Elaine Jones, who was at church at the time of the incident, said that she is very disappointed and traumatized over the matter. She has since been visiting the hospital and taking as much care of her son as possible. The woman said that she is least interested in Roy Sanders’s assailant at the moment. The assailant is the victim’s stepfather.
According to Elaine Jones, “They could never be like family because Carl’s (the assailant) intention was to kill my son”.
The two children, Sharyl and Elroy, remain depressed and are still in a state of disbelief. Sharyl revealed a minor cut that extends across her fingers while she was trying to get the cutlass from the assailant.
Troy Lewis, who was injured while assisting to disarm the attacker, told Kaieteur News yesterday that he was feeling much better but that the incident continues to “play back” in his mind.
When contacted, most of the residents continued to voice in dismay simply because they believe that the two men should “live like family”.
About 9:30hrs on Sunday, screams summoned residents of the Mocha Housing Scheme to see a stepfather brutally chopping his stepson following an argument.
Residents managed to put out the fight before things got worse. In so doing, Troy Lewis was stroked on his shoulder for which he had to undergo treatment.
Roy Sanders’s assailant was taken into police custody.
