A police officer from the Tactical Service Unit (TSU) was run over by a truck driver at Bartica yesterday morning while investigating an earlier accident at the scene where he met his death.
Dead is Police Constable Delian Forde, who was hit by a truck at around 03:00 hrs, near the Third Avenue and Sixth Street, Bartica junction.
Kaieteur News understands that within the span of an hour two accidents took place at the same location.
Devina Heeraman, 21, who is an employee at Region Administration sustained head injuries from the initial accident and was referred to Georgetown Public Hospital before being discharged yesterday afternoon.
According to reports, a yellow taxi, HB 8353, had earlier slammed into the rear end of another car, PJJ 8216.
Policeman Delian Forde was then summoned to the scene.
While he was standing there, another car, PLL3322, and a ‘bush truck’ collided, and in the process ploughed into the two other vehicles that had just crashed.
The truck then ran over Forde.
Other bystanders received minor injuries.
Persons that were on the scene told Kaieteur News that they did not immediately realize that the truck had struck the police officer.
“Is till somebody point out de man then we see he roll up under de truck wheel”.
