The education sector is unlike other sectors that deal with crop cultivation, building of roads, and housing development. It depends on stakeholder participation to get result, says Minister of Education, Shaik Baksh.
The Minister noted that the sector focuses on the reprogramming of children and behavioural change and unless all stakeholders are involved the system cannot change. He stressed that many heads of schools are moving along this direction with the Ministry while a lot are not responding. This is evident with the non-establishment of school libraries, text books are gathering dust, and literacy hours are not utilized.
However, to ensure these heads come on board the Ministry will reorganize the management programme and no certificate would be issued unless schools are well administered.
Nonetheless, the Ministry is optimistic with the progress some teachers are making but they still need support from their schools, Department of Education, and the Central Ministry. Minister Baksh added that parents, communities, Board of Governors, and Parent-Teacher Association need to get proactive.
