Workers at a construction site yesterday stumbled on the body of one of their colleague after searching for him for some time.
Workers turned up for duty yesterday at a building located at the corner of Ketley and Broad Streets, Charlestown, but did not notice the security guard. However workers began their work as per normal.
The security guard has been identified as 48 year-old Vernon Barclay of Westminster, West Bank Demerara.
“Is one ah dem boy go up on de second floor verandah and see de man lying down on he face,” an employee said.
Persons at the site said that they tried calling the man thinking that he was drunk and sleeping. However after getting no response the police were informed.
The police carried out their initial investigation and the body was taken away to the Lyken Funeral Parlour.
A source close to the investigation said that it is believed that the man died of natural causes. A post mortem is expected to be performed sometime next week.
