The Berbice Cricket Board earlier this week reassured members of the 2011 Cellink Berbice Female Team that the development of cricket among females is at the top of its agenda. Board President Keith Foster gave this assurance when he presented the team with 15 Polo shirts and a set of Berbice Inter County caps.
The President said that with the high level of commitment shared by the players the BCB would expand its investment in female cricket as it strives to spread the game across the Ancient County.
Chairman of the Special Events Committee Hilbert Foster disclosed that the Polo shirts would be used by the team when traveling while the caps would be presented to players making their debut for the County during the tournament.
Foster, who is also the Board’s Public Relation Officer challenged the players to play as a united team while being discipline on and off the field. He also informed the team that once they win the Guyana Cricket Board Inter County tournament, a Most Valuable Player would be named and would receive a bicycle as a prize.
Captain of the team, West Indies female player Shemaine Campbelle expressed gratitude to the BCB for the outstanding work they are doing to promote female cricket. On behalf of the team she also pledged to win the tournament and to make the County proud.
