Entries for the Norman Singh Memorial Turf Club of Bel Air No 6, West Coast Berbice in collaboration with Digicel horserace meet on Sunday July 24 will close on Sunday at the at the club’s office at No6 West Coast Berbice. Horse owners are also reminded to get their horses properly registered with the Guyana Horse Racing Authority, as those horses not properly entered will not be allowed to participate in the day’s proceedings.
The race meet will be run under the auspices of the Guyana Horse Racing Authority. Those interested in entering their animal can do so by contacting Secretary Ghansham ‘Ganesh’ Singh on Telephone 600-3626, 649-3636, 232-0219 or organizing Secretary Campton Sancho on 690-0569 or at the Club’s office at No 6 Bel Air West Coast Berbice.
The event is a Mega $10M one day 10-event meet. The feature race is for B class horses with a whopping $1.2M up for grabs with the horses set to gallop over a distance of 1600m.
The top West Indies Bred three years olds in the country will be in action as they battle for the top prize of $600,000 over 1600m.
The three year old event for Guyana Bred horses has $400,000 for the winner over 1400m. The F Class event also has a lucrative first prize of $500,000 with the distance set at 1200m.
In the two year old West Indies Bred race the animals will compete for a first prize of $450,000 and will be run over a distance of 1100m. The Guyana Bred Two year old horses will run for a winner’s money of $400,000 over 1000m.
There is a race for G1 and lower horses which has a first prize also of $400,000 with the distance set at 1400m.
The other races listed for the day’s programme are ‘I1’ and lower 1200m event with a first prize of $180,000. The I3 event for winners of one race only and non winners has a first prize of $170,000 over 1100m.
The final race for the day will be for unclassified Division 1,2&3 animals and will see them racing over 1200m with the winner taking away $150,000.
Outstanding performers on the day’s meet will be presented with trophies compliments of Ramesh Sunich of the Trophy Stall, Bourda Market and cash prizes from sponsors Digicel.
Race time is 12:00hrs. The organisers are asking all horse owners and fans to turn up at the venue early for a prompt start to the 10-race programme. Over 70 racehorses have already entered and an exciting day of racing is expected with most of the top racehorses in the country will battle for the over $10M in prize money on offer.
