Edward Kester Apollo, 47, a labourer, of Lonsdale, East Bank Berbice, was yesterday remanded to prison by Magistrate Adela Nagamootoo when he appeared before her at the New Amsterdam magistrate’s court on a charged of attempted murder committed on Damion Henry Trim of Sir Douglas Road, Fyrish, Corentyne, Berbice, on Wednesday July 6, last.
According to prosecutor Corporal Sherlock King, the two men, among others, work for one Arjune on his farm. On the day in question, the two were among a group of men working at Lonsdale, East Bank Berbice, when a misunderstanding ensued between them. It is understood that Apollo took a spade and proceed to beat Trim with it, in the process inflicting serious injuries on his body.
The seriously injured man was picked up and rushed to the New Amsterdam hospital before being transferred to the Georgetown hospital where he remains warded.
Apollo was arrested and charged. He will have to return to court next Monday (July 18).
