Plaisance Secondary School dismissed any challenge from Saint Stanislaus College last night to become the first team through to the National Schools’ Basketball Festival (NSBF) Under-16 Final at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall.
Plaisance never seemed threatened in the game, romping to an 18-8 lead at halftime, before taking the win 28-19 after a mini-surge from Saints in the last half. Up to Kaieteur Sport Press time last night, Marian Academy was playing Kwakwani Secondary in the other semi-final.
Wesley Forde scored eight points for Plaisance in the game with support from Nduka Horatio, who had seven points. Ginelle Ifill, a female, who is the cousin of national senior basketball star, Andrew Ifill, scored six points as part of the Plaisance team.
Darroll William top scored for Saints with nine points. The competition continues tonight with the final in the U-16 and the Division I contests. Youth Basketball Guyana is the official hosts of the 2011 NSBF with support from Beharry’s, Digicel, Banks DIH and Sterling Products.
