The Ministry of Legal Affairs has benefitted from a donation of book from the Guyana Law Association (UK). The presentation was made by the founder of the organization, Colin Bobb-Semple who migrated to the UK some years ago.
Over 100 books were presented to the Ministry in the presence of the Attorney General and Minister of Legal Affairs, Charles Ramson, SC, OR; Justice Claudette Singh; the Permanent Secretary; and the Chief Parliamentary Commissioner.
Senior Counsel Charles Ramson lauded the Guyana Law Association (UK) for its contribution to the development of the library at the Ministry of Legal Affairs.
He added that there will be the need for extension of the building structure in order to accommodate the books. He also said that legal work has need for books.
The Guyana Law Association (UK) was founded in 2002 by Mr. Colin Bobb-Semple and other members of the executive committee.
Several donations were made to Guyana and benefitted the High Court Library, Georgetown and New Amsterdam and the University of Guyana. These were law books, law reports, computers and other materials.
The Minister took the time to thank Mr. Bobb-Semple for the contribution and welcomed him to make many more in the near future.
