BCB Secretary Carl Moore (left) presents the bicycle to Clinton Pestano’s father Clive on his behalf.
Berbice Under-19 player Clinton Pestano was celebrated by the Berbice Cricket Board (BCB) as the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the recently concluded Guyana Cricket Board Under-19 Inter County One-Day tournament.
Pestano was chosen by the Cellink Berbice Under-19 Management Team comprising of Manager Julian Cambridge and Coach Hubern Evans.
Selected to represent Guyana in the upcoming WICB Under-19 tournament, Pestano, played two important innings for Berbice against Essequibo and Demerara and also bowled and fielded well for the champions.
Chairman of the BCB Special Events Committee Hilbert Foster in complimenting Pestano disclosed that since 2009, the Board, as part of its development plans has recognised the MVP for each winning Berbice Inter County team.
The aim of the programme he said is to encourage all Berbice players to lift the level of their personality in the game and to perform well for the County. Foster urged Pestano to always strive for excellence, to listen to advice and to be discipline at all times as it is the key to success. Noting that success only comes through hard work, the veteran cricket administrator cautioned Pestano to dedicate himself fully to the game and he would receive his rewards.
Mr. Clive Pestano who represented his son at the presentation expressed gratitude to the Berbice Cricket Board for honouring his son and also praised the Board for the outstanding work it has been doing for the game in Berbice.
He pledged that his son would continue to work hard as his goal is represent Guyana and the West Indies at the highest level. Pestano received a bicycle worth $16,000 compliments of the Board which also rewarded Arif Chan as MVP of the GCB Inter County Under-15 tournament.
