The Guyana team now encamped for the 2011 regional under-19 tournament will be involved in two practice games as part of preparations for the regional tournament to be staged in Guyana from the July 18 to August 15.
The team under the management of first timer Raymond Barton, Manager, and long serving Hubern Evans, Coach, will be engaged in a 50-overs match against the Lusignan Sports Club first division XI at the Lusignan Sports Club, Ground on the East Coast of Demerara today starting from 09:30hrs.
The team will then come up against a powerful rest XI led by West Indies International player Leon Johnson and will include Guyana’s latest West Indies player Christopher Barnwell, former West Indies under-19’s players Steven Jacobs and Trevon Griffith and senior national players Shemroy Barrington and Andre Stoll in a three day match at the Everest Cricket Club, Ground Camp Road from Monday 11 to Wednesday 13 starting at 10:00hrs.
The Rest Team Reads: Leon Johnson – Captain, Christopher Barnwell, Steven Jacobs, Shemroy Barrington, Trevon Griffith, Dinesh Mangal, Jahran Bryon, Raj Nanan, Totaram Bishun, Seon Daniels, Andre Stoll, Kellon Carmichael and Christopher Surat.
The Guyana team will be without first class players, Captain Ronsford Beaton and Leg spinner Amir Khan, who will be involved with the West Indies Under-19’s tour of the USA.
