Inderjeet Ramjeet, called Crusoe,34, of Topo Village, Corentyne, who is accused of murdering Mahendra Ally, called ‘Rishi’, or ‘Strong man’ a father of one of Kilcoy Chesney, Corentyne, was remanded to prison by Magistrate Fabayo Azore when he appeared before her at the Albion Magistrate’s court charged with murder.
He was remanded until August 9.
Ramjeet is accused of killing Ally on Monday July 4, last, Caricom Day at a bush cook at Topo.
Ally was with friends having a bush cook and celebrating the holiday when an argument ensued with Ramjeet who was allegedly heavily under the influence of alcohol.
Reports state that Ramjeet grabbed a knife from nearby and stabbed Ally. The victim allegedly died on the spot.
The assailant then fled the scene, but turned himself in the next day in the company of his lawyer.
A post mortem gave the cause of death as shock and hemorrhage due to stab wounds. Ally leaves to mourn his pregnant wife and a four-year-old son.
