The pursuit for a place in the group-of-32 for the inaugural GT&T FastBall knock-out football competition shifts into another gear this weekend with three days of pulsating play anticipated at Grounds across Guyana.
Beginning this afternoon at the BV Ground on the East Coast, two matches will be played from 16:30hrs; Plaisance Panthers challenge Arthur’s All Stars while Golden Stars are scheduled to face BV Lions in the first matches of the competition on the East Coast.
At the GFC Ground also this evening kicking off at 18:00hrs, five matches will be contested; Bent Street Ball Weavers play Young Guns, The Roxanne Warriors oppose West Under Dogs, Chelsea match skills with Middle East, North Street Warriors engage Alexander Village Youth and Upper Lever All Stars seek a place in the next round but will have to get past Body Central Beacons.
Matches are also slated for GFC tomorrow (Saturday) and Sunday kicking off at 18:00hrs each day.
The Mackenzie Sports Club Ground which hosted the historical opening on Saturday last will again be the centre of attract in the Bauxite Mining town this evening with four more matches commencing at 18:00hrs. CB Attackers comes up against One Mile, Gold Hungry match skills
with Adams Rockers, New Castle United play Linden Hospital Complex and Netrockers B meets Classic Seven. Four more matches will be played at this venue tomorrow.
Essequibo teams will have their chance to showcase their skills tomorrow at the Anna Regina Community Centre Ground from 15:00hrs. Gunners Veterans will seek to take care Coastland All Stars, New Opportunity Corp play Henrietta B, Militants seeks victory over Richmond while Queenstown match skills with Dartmouth United.
The Uitvlugt Community Centre Ground is the venue for play on the West Demerara tomorrow and Sunday kicking off at 15:00hrs both days. Den Amstel, Uitvlugt, Meten Meer Zorg, Beavers, West Side All Stars, Not Working Cash Money, Squatters ‘The Gunners’ United, Pouderoyen, Eagles United A and B, Wales and Seorra Lodge are some of the teams who will be vying for a place in the next round of the competition cognizant of the fact that it is a knock-out competition.
Five matches are also slated for the Diamond Community Centre Ground on the East Bank also from 15:00hrs, Harpy Eagles, Eccles United, Mocha Arcadia, KK Frontline Strikers/Diamond Invaders, Jonny Nice/Faith United, Samatta Point/KK Lions, Agricola United/Timehri Ballers, Grove and Harpy Eagles/Eccles United are some of the teams vying for supremacy on the East Bank.
GT&T’s Bluie Max will be visiting the various Grounds where fans will be able to cash in on the many giveaways compliments of GT&T. admission to all the venues is free.
Meanwhile, in matches played at GFC on Wednesday evening, Avacado Black Water easily disposed of True Warrior 3-0; Anthony Denlinton scored with the blue ball one minute before half time, the other goal came off the boot of Trevor Marshall in the 6th minute.
Brave Heart won via penalty kicks 1-0 over Game Thinkers after their encounter ended 1-1 at the end of regulation time. Jamal Morgan had given Game Thinkers the lead four minutes into the encounter but Peter Smith pulled Brave Heart level in the 11th minute.
Customs advanced as a result of Max Collection walking off the field just before kickoff. According to an official of the team, they did so in support of the six teams (clubs) that has been banned by the Guyana Football Federation from competing in the tournament.
War Mongers also advanced to eth next stage by virtue of a walk over from Classic X1.
