Two Jamaican companies have been listed among the entities bidding for the US$20M four-lane extension road project on the East Bank of Demerara, from Providence to Diamond.
The demanding project has also seen local companies teaming up. These include a combination of General Earth Movers Limited and Geico Construction Company Limited, as well as R. Bassoo and Sons with D&J Civil Works.
This project is expected to run for a period of 18 months with funding which was sourced by the Guyana Government from the Inter-American Development Bank.
Works on the additional lanes will include medians, a walkway, bicycle path and wherever possible, parking.
Already, works have begun on another section of the East Bank Demerara thoroughfare, from the Timheri Police Station to the Cheddi Jagan International Airport.
