– Stewartville wins Region 3 crown
Port Kaituma defeated Santa Rosa 5-4 on penalty kicks after their engagement ended in a draw in regulation time as play in the Digicel-sponsored Nationwide Schools Football Tournament continued in various regions.
The result means that Port Kaituma has now moved into the playoff phase.
In their previous clash, Port Kaituma beat North West Secondary 3-0 with goals coming from Cordell Mitchell, who netted a double in the 12th and 27th minutes, while J. Lowe completed the tally.
North West had defeated Hosororo 3-0 with R. Sudoxie booting in a hat-trick in the 15th, 45th and 60th minutes.
In other results:
Friendship Secondary went down to Bygeval Secondary 2-3.
Scoring for the winning team were Mark Collins (10th) Shafar Sanishar (52nd) and Janson Jack (57th)
Over in Region 3-
Stewartville beat Patentia 1-0 in the final to earn the right to represent the Region.
Timothy Morrison’s 56th minute strike separated the two teams.
Lodge defeated South Ruimveldt 3-0.
Adoni Parbo, Daniel Wilson and Cosbert Hazel were the players on target.
