A team of investigators led by a senior detective has been dispatched to Karasabai to probe the murder of former National under-23 footballer, Daxton Parks.
Parks, 28, of St. Ignatius, Lethem, was killed when a man shot him with an arrow following a heated argument around 22:00 hours on Sunday.
This newspaper understands that Parks, who also worked as a contractor, was in the Karasabai area carrying out some construction work.
It is alleged that he was engaged in an argument with an 18-year old man, during which he reportedly threw a chair at the suspect.
The man then went into his house and returned with a bow and arrow and shot Parks in the chest.
The incident has sent shockwaves throughout the Rupununi where Parks and his siblings are well known for their contribution to football in the district.
The suspect has been arrested and the bow and arrow believed to have been used in the incident have been recovered by the police.
Parks’s body was taken to Lethem where a post mortem examination is to be performed.
