Come Thursday evening eight short films and a documentary on the making of the films will be the highlight at a function held by the President’s Film Endowment Project 2010. The event will be held at the Theater Guild Playhouse, Kingstown Georgetown.
The films to be highlighted were produced by local film makers.
Head of State Bharrat Jagdeo, along with Thomas Pearce of the United States Embassy are expected to officially launch the films. This event will mark the beginning of a venture to stimulate a film making industry in Guyana.
The initiative stemmed from a meeting with stakeholders in the local arts and entertainment industry in November last year where a small grant of $10M was committed to encourage film making in Guyana.
