After an interesting first leg of the Castrol Strikers organised TradeWind Tankers True Champion Volleyball Tournament, the second and upcoming legs of this unique format is expected to produce some exciting volleyball.
The script of first round action was very much the same with Young Achievers being their usually dominant self.
What was noticeably different, however, was how threatening Port Mourant Training Centre looked in their end of day game against Achievers and how much more fluent than last year Castrol Strikers have begun the tournament.
With the tournament running over a period of four months, it is expected that these two teams will improve significantly and could if not threaten to dethrone the defending champions, produce some very competitive and exciting volleyball.
Today’s completion of the preliminary round sixes format sees Achievers with an almost insurmountable advantage being 10 points clear of their nearest rival.
It means, therefore, with the aggregate points system being used either Port Mourant Training School or Castrol Strikers will have to beat Achievers by at least 10 points, if they are to win this round or hope the seemingly impossible happens and they lose to one of the other teams.
Tournament organisers have, however, informed that if time permits then the top two teams of the day will compete in a best of three 15 points game to determine the champion and second place of the day and consequently the recipients of the $20,000 and $10,000 respectively.
