DEAR EDITOR,
It has been quite evident when reading newspaper articles that the time taken for someone to express themselves about an ongoing issue is not given any respect or consideration due to the readers’ rebuttal that is made towards one’s creative insight about a valuable situation being laid on the table with a good argument to back it.
We need to learn to respect each other’s views and take what the buffet table offers us.
When attending a Public Policy workshop a few weeks ago funded by USAID, the professor from Vermont indicated with proof of a handout that when someone writes something in the newspaper, an article, a letter, that is one’s view or open opinion about something and shouldn’t be contradicted about sharing one’s thoughts about a situation.
It could even be constructive criticism too, so bear in mind the next time you plan to rebuke one’s knowledge and artistic writing styles displayed in the news.
When a person writes a letter in the newspaper, intelligent people would know that this is just someone’s perspective about a situation or somebody and it is up to you to take it or leave it you do not have to retaliate by attacking the person non-stop via the media, that is only if the statement is true then it would offend you.
I could recall being attacked non-stop about trying to prove a valid point about making an access with government funds instead of building unnecessary structures.
The rebuttal I received was being painted and cursed non-stop as being “ungrateful” a “hypocrite” etc. Writing has a limitation of freedom of expression by not being allowed to use a person’s name without their permission and calling people names is prohibited.
If you do so you are crossing the line here and looking for serious trouble. I thought the bourgeois knew better.
These typical people that we deal with nowadays are truly unbelievable, meaning they don’t consider the other party and what that individual is going through and start contradicting someone’s originality.
When someone writes they take time off their busy schedule not to inform the public about some propaganda but about perspectives on target situations and how to tackle them in the best possible way, like myself.
Some writers are so clueless about what to do about a problem that they have to write about it and try to seek attention from the public on the matter and obtain some sort of informative response that will reach out to where they are coming from and provide a result on how to combat the propensity of the matter of interest.
Great writers who don’t have a column but write words of worthiness under the editorial section, shouldn’t be condemned but congratulated for their courageousness of unfolding the hidden truth that has to be dug up one day, so people can really know what’s going on, what happened in the past and what is the aftermath expected of a critical situation.
I do hope the next time someone tries to judge someone on the message they are trying best to convey, they will do so with integrity, respect, and consideration by saving what they want to say to themselves.
Who are you anyway to judge me, only God should judge me? If you speak out, you shouldn’t be scorned but applauded for your bravery.
“Get up stand up! Stand up for your right. Get up stand up! Don’t give up the fight! Cause we never give up the fight.” – Bob Marley.
Martin Luther King was a freedom fighter and I am sure that he would encourage people to speak out with freedom of expression. Ideally, Mahatma Gandhi once said, “When we fight, we fight with words, not with sticks, stones and swords.”
I do hope we can remember these words of wisdom that these recognized freedom fighters advocated with their simplicity and hope they can continue to echo on from generation to generation.
