Cricketers along the East Bank corridor are gearing up for action when the executives of the East Bank Cricket Association (EBCA) stage the Neville Sarjoo 40 overs cricket championships at the Demerara Cricket Club (DCC) ground Queenstown, tomorrow starting at 10:00hrs.
The winner of this match play Diamond on Monday June 4. The organizers disclosed that the tournament got underway in October 2010 but constant rainfall and unavailability of grounds conspired to cause delays to some matches.
A source revealed that there are three grounds on the East Bank; in Diamond, Farm and Providence. The source further said that all of the grounds are in deplorable conditions and was responsible for organizers’ inability to complete the tournament earlier.
Activities over the coming weekend should see a culmination of the tournament.
