On a solemn day when Guyanese nationals prepare to reflect on the achievements of the Caricom community since the inauguration of the one community concept, affiliates of the Guyana Association of Scrabble Players (GASP) will convene in the pavilion of the Malteenoes Sports Club, Thomas lands next Monday, July 4, to battle for top honours when their parent association presents the Annual Caricom Day Scrabble competition.
The registration period starts at 09:30hrs and the first tile would be placed at 10:00hrs sharp.
A press release from the GASP informed that the impending tournament was not initially advertised on this year’s calendar of events.
The release further informed that the national championship was scheduled to be played on June 2, 3 and 4 but this would be postponed to a date to be announced.
Players are reminded that the tournament is a rated one and they are asked to make every effort to be there. The entrance fee remains at $500.
