A number of outstanding performances were recorded throughout the day when the Guyana Motor racing & Sports Club held its International Drag Race Meeting on Sunday, at the South Dakota Circuit.
The day’s honours were shared among the three participating countries in Guyana, Suriname and Trinidad and Tobago with the latter’s Hollister Edwards, who piloted a 1964 Alta Dragster registering the most impressive performance of the day after setting a blistering 131 mph which was the fastest over the distance by any of the machines.
Suriname’s Oliver Tjiv-Liep-Shie also produced a riveting performance to capture the ‘B’ Class event, while local boy Arvind Parag took the chequered flag in the ‘E’ Class,while Rafeek Mohamed of Guyana did likewise in the ‘C’.
