The Police said they are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a man, so far identified as “Steve”, which occurred about 13:30 hrs Tuesday.
Investigations revealed that the victim was being transported by vehicle from Black Water, Mahdia, suffering from a suspected stab wound to his neck, police said. The man is reported to have succumbed to his injury during the journey.
The body is at the Mahdia Hospital awaiting a post mortem examination.
Relatives of the man are looking to travel to Mahdia to identify the body and to determine if it is indeed the missing man. “Mankind” went missing on June 5.
Relatives reported to this newspaper on Saturday that Caesar had left his mother’s South Ruimveldt home on June 5, informing her that he was on his way to Charity, Essequibo.
One police source yesterday told this newspaper that they have received the report, but have not been able to confirm it.
Kaieteur News was told that officials from the Lyken Funeral Home have also received phone calls about the body being found, but are yet to receive any word from the police.
Caesar’s sister, Natoya, said that the family continued to hear about the rumours but did not receive an official word from the police.
Caesar was last seen wearing blue jeans, plaid shirt and a pair of brown sandals.
