Colin Jones, 31, of West La Penitence yesterday appeared before Magistrate Anne McLennan to answer to two charges of murder.
The two charges were however withdrawn as they were reportedly filed under wrong sections. New charges were subsequently reread to Jones.
It is alleged that between November 12 and November 20 Jones murdered Kurt Thierens.
It is also alleged that during the same period he also murdered Adriano Tracey.
Jones was not required to plead as the matter was indictable.
He stood motionless as the charges were read to him, still sporting his signature dreadlocks, and dressed in dark-coloured jersey, blue jeans and slippers.
The case was adjourned to July 20.
Thierens and Tracey’s bodies were recovered by police from shallow graves, on a farm up the Kara Kara Creek, where Jones had led Police.
