Dear Editor,
As former President of the University of Guyana Students’ Society, 2004/05, 2005/06, 2007/08 and 2008/09, I was privileged to address the many problems of UG Tain Campus even before the incumbent Professor D. Samad.
There are many controversial issues surrounding this, in some eyes, esteemed individual. Dr. Jerry Jailall, Abu Dhabi University, UAE, may be questionable too; hence, speaking from that side of the coin (associate of Prof. D. Samad), may now ponder many of his intention.
Dr. Jailall, you too will have to come under the microscope if your aim is to be in that environ. You failed to highlight the truth of your small projects which is, “A loser wants to be considered an expert by others before he has learned enough to know how LITTLE he knows.”
On the other hand, “ideas without positive action (s)” is like an empty boat on an island. What kind of police officers did you see? Berbicians are not fools. That era has passed.
“The only thing that seems to be holding back the Berbice Campus is the current structure of inadequate local autonomy…” Your thesis, though entitled to, is CORRECT because the individual you are trying to praise is at the helm of that local autonomy you described and plays his cards
to the satisfaction of those in the mal-administration of PPP/C he reports to ( Dr. Tota Mangar and Dr. Prem Misir and more).
The main problem with University of Guyana Tain Campus is that Professor Diazal Samad was instructed by his superiors to fight for UG Tain to have its own autonomy. This and more are WRONG! It is one University of Guyana with two factions (Tain and Turkeyen).
Dr. Jailall, your small projects were too minute for your alleged title. What you should have included in that research was “WHAT WAS THE MAIN REASON FOR UG BERBICE TAIN ESTABLISHMENT?”
You may be surprised to know that my premiere educational institution, UG, had a Vice Chancellor (ag) for a maximum of 24 hours. Berbicians are not fools, try another line; this time, let it be truth. Just for the records and to bring clarity to yours opinions, Professor D. Samad, myself and other senior administrators of UG sat at the highest decision making body of that university; UG Council, of which he is still apart. I have more to divulge, so play your song Dr. Jerry Jailall.
Be reminded that the only thing you truly have the ability to improve is YOURSELF.
