Shaneeza Hussain of Cuddles Touch Incorporated, left, hands over the items to Ava Singh, Volunteer Management Co-ordinator of the Red Cross Society.
The Guyana Red Cross Society yesterday received a second donation for flood victims at Lethem and Kwakwani from Cuddles Touch Incorporated.
At the handing over ceremony yesterday, representative of the company, Shaneeza Hussain explained that the entity donated 50 bales of toilet tissue with the intention of providing some form of relief to those who have suffered tremendously as a result of the flooding in their communities.
Kaieteur News understands that April, last, was the first occasion that the establishment had provided support.
“We want to produce quality products for cheap prices to meet the families in Guyana. It isn’t about making money; it is about giving back and assisting in future disasters. There are many people in dire need of support and we implore that other companies come together and assist,” said Hussain.
Volunteer Management Co-ordinator of the Guyana Red Cross, Ava Singh, explained that this donation was very timely and much needed.
She added that before the end of this week, the donation should be packed off and flown into the affected regions.
According to Singh, there is a branch unit of her organization established in Lethem, Region Nine, where teams were able to have continuous monitoring of the situation and relay updates on the different alert levels.
Some of the Red Cross volunteers reside in Lethem while there are many others who were stationed there throughout the worst of the flooding. There was also a National Intervention Team (NIT) in Region Nine.
